The snow falls at Coleridge Way Cottages

In early February 2009 we had the biggest dump of snow for nearly 20 years.

Here is a selection of photos from Thursday 5th, Friday 6th and Saturday 7th February.

Staying in Exmoor during the snow is rather special. Coleridge Way Cottages are over 1,000 feet above sea level which means that we nearly always get some snow each winter. So book now for Christmas, New Year and even January and February as these dates can be snapped up fast.

Even our Land Rover got stuck , until we dug it out
The Coleridge Bridle Way looked magnificient under 18 inches of snow.
The cottages had 18 inches of snow on their roofes. But being so well insulated they were very cosy inside.

The snow as so thick that it bent down quite a few trees.

William against the snow drift at the top of the lane. This drift was over 5 feet deep.
Emma at the snow drift near Higher Court Farm, again over 5 feet and about 50 yards long.
The drifts were so high in places that they went over the hedge
Even our Quad bike could not get through the drift at the top of the lane.

The horses were a little dazed from the snow and welcomed coming in for the first day

The view, the sun, the snow - bliss
