Valiant Solider, Roadwater – The local Pub with good honest food and a great local atmosphere. Pool table and a Skittle ally in the back. It is 2 miles to The Valiant Solider down the hill into Roadwater. Tel: 01984 640 223.

The Royal Oak, Luxborough – Pub with an acclaim reputation for good food. The pub is like a snug in the winter with an open fire, tables full of locals and excellent condition beers and ciders. Book in the evenings. Lovely quite garden. It is 4 miles to The Royal Oak by road and 2 1/4 miles by footpath through Treborough village and then across Higher Court Farm. Lowtrow Cross Inn, Upton, Nr Wiveliscombe TA4 2DB – – We have just be told that they no longer do food but this just be one of the days they don't. We have not been able to check, so call before you go. Gastro Pub with excellent food, lovely lunches and dinners in front of the open fire. A local favourite. The foods is always great with really pleasant unpretentious service. It is 4 1/2 miles to Lowtrow Cross from the cottages. Food served Wed-Sat 12noon to 2pm. Mon-Sat 6pm to 9pm. Sunday 12noon-2pm & 7pm-9pm (not open Mondays & Tuesday lunchtime except Bank holidays). Tel: 01398 371220

Ralegh's Cross Inn, It is 2 ¼ miles to Ralegh's Cross Inn by the "top" road and it has glorious views back over the cottages and over the Severn estuary and Wales. Busy pub with basic food. Originally a 16th century coaching inn it was central to the mining community that used to work the local quarries. It has some lovely old photographs on the walls.
