Mountain Biking and Road Cycling
Exmoor is a fantastic location for cycling and mountain
biking. The tour of Britain (the milk race) has stages that have
run close to us for the past two years. The Iron Man run is also
close and with over 400 miles of bridleways it has some challenging
and spectacular off road runs.
We are recognised by the English tourist board (EnjoyEngland)
as Welcoming Cyclists so we have specific facilities to accommodate
bikes and their riders, such as a power washer, washing and drying
facilities and secure storage
We have two cottages Coleridge
Cottage and Wordsworth Cottage
both with double beds. Wordsworth can be converted into two single
beds by request. Both cottages can be booked
together to form one large cottage which sleeps 4 people, as they
have secure interconnecting doors.
Mountain Biking
Exmoor is a fantastic location for Mountain Biking with over 400
miles of bridleways. It has some of the most challenging and spectacular
scenery in the country.
As well as the endless bridleways, Exmoor also has
some fantastic downhill courses. In Leigh Barton woods in front
of the cottages there is a fabulous Combe Sydenham downhill mountain
bike track. Contact Combe
Sydenham Country Park the estate owners
for more details.
Exmoors growing popularity with mountain bikers
has sparked off events such as the Exmoor Explorer Mountain Bike
Marathon and the British Heat Foundation Randone.
Exmoor National Park Authority offers a graded cycle
map to help you plan your visit and is available to buy online.
They also provide information on codes of conduct for cyclists.
Road Cycling

The Tour of Britain (former Milk race) passed very close by in 2007
in 2008, which demonstrates the high standard of road cycling on
Exmoor.
Exmoor also has its own permanent Tour of Britain
route of approximately 60 miles. The cycling element of the Iron
Man event which is based at Wimbleball Lake comes close by as
does the Exmoor
Beast event in early November.
Cycling from Coleridge Way Cottages
You can cycle straight from the front door of the cottages
onto terrain that is tough yet rewarding. There are numerous quiet
roads and winding country lanes provide fantastic scope for exploration.
Exmoor has something for every level.
Facilities
At Coleridge Way Cottages we know how
important it is to provide you with everything you need. We are
recognised by the English tourist board (EnjoyEngland) as Welcoming
Cyclists so we have specific facilities to accommodate bikes and
their riders:
Secure bike storage
Cycle wash facilities and jet washer
Washing and drying facilities
A small repair kit and air compressor to pump up tyres.
